Competition Healthcare advocates for all Delawareans to receive accessible & affordable quality healthcare.
2024 Initiative: We support the repeal of the "Certificate of Public Review" process (CON law) in Delaware. Unlike other public policy changes that produce winners and losers, allowing open competition in healthcare benefits all Delawareans:
- Patients will receive higher quality care at lower prices and more access to health facilities of all kinds.
- Self-employed will have lower health insurance costs.
- Employers will have lower health insurance costs, or if self-insured, have lower health costs.
- Taxpayers are better off: the largest single cost in the Delaware state budget in fiscal 2019 was $718 million for Medicaid it is on a trajectory to bust the Delaware Budget.
- When health care costs have run more than 2x’s the rate of inflation for more than 15 years, they tend to put pressure on wage increases.
- The Mercatus study forecast that Delaware would benefit to the tune of $248 million per year in health cost savings once the Certificate of Public Review process (CON law) was repealed.
